Breakfast this morning was at one of our most favourite breakfast places. It’s a bakery cafe called Jin Chiew where they serve hot bread and other yummies. We ordered lots and lots and lots of our favourite things….
My Teh Tarik – milk tea….sooo yummy!
Jarryd enjoying his Milo Peng – or rather….cold Milo with ice in it. Love the photo!

Now this beauty is one of the most fabulous invention…it’s called Roti Kahwin or marriage bread….It’s Kaya (coconut jam) and a slice of butter between toasted bread. Now everywhere else that I’ve ordered it….in Singapore and Malaysia…they make it with just plain sliced bread. Here in Brunei…in Jin Chiew…they make it using yellow egg bread…doubly delicious.

A thick slab of yellow egg bread done ala french toast. LOL

This is my sister’s favourite…..Fresh rice noodles with their secret sauce with crispy sliced fish fillets sprinkled lightly with sesame seeds and spring onion.

Curry puffs….not the best in Brunei…but they come to the table piping hot from the oven. Passable….I like my curry puffs with lots of potato in them…these ones were heavy in meat…but it was still wolfed down.

Now this…..is a favourite with the boys…..it’s simple….we make this in Australia for a weekend brunch. Yellow egg bread with omelette and ketchup in the middle. Not tomato sauce…it has to be ketchup and it has to be yellow egg bread.

Then my sister took us on a sightseeing tour of Brunei for my mother in law’s benefit as it is her first time to Brunei.
Kampong Ayer or water village. There are entire villages on the Brunei river. Communities….houses, hospitals, schools, stores, petrol stations etc

In the background is the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque. The buildings on either side are shopping malls.

Before long it was lunchtime and we headed to have Steamed chicken and chicken rice at Thien Thien which has been famous for their signature dish since I was a little girl.

Then off to do a bit of shopping at a couple of shopping centres before coming home for a short rest after which Shawn (BIL), MIL, Joseph and I headed to the Fish market to splurge on prawns, cockles, crabs, fish and lobster prawns.
We dropped off the food at Shawn’s mother’s place and then went to the Empire hotel for a photo shoot session …..which finished at around 7pm
Totally love this photo……the inside of the Empire Hotel.

when we went back to Shawn’s mother’s place to find that they had cooked all the food and we had our seafood feast – cockles (steamed and fried), soy sauce lobster prawns, steamed prawns, steamed fish, tomato crab and chilli crab. There was also a spicy veg salad, stirfried baby ferns, soy sauce pork and sweet corn soup. OMG….sooo much food! Quite a few of my sister & bil’s friends came to help with the food as well and even then, there was still sooo much left over. We didn’t leave till close to midnight!!!

It’s now 1.30am and I’m blogging away so that I don’t fall behind!!! Still having trouble uploading pics…so pics will be updated later on as it is just too late for me to work it out now and the mac battery is close to running out! Nite Nite!!
